2 Bits and a Byte robot (2019-2020 season)

For my 4 years in high school, I competed in the FIRST Tech Challenge on my school's robotics team: 2 Bits and a Byte. We won the world championship in Detroit in 2018 and made it to the state semi finals the following two years. I was the primary driver of the robot my senior year and played a major role in designing, building, and wiring the drive train and lift mechanisms.

The robotics team was where I thrived in high school. I spent all my free time in the makerspace (usually up to four hours a day), constantly engaged in the engineering design process, where we would discuss ideas, prototype them, build off of what we learned, and repeat until we had a mechanism we were happy with. Through this process, I learned to appreciate the many areas with which robotics intersects. From designing and building the robot I fell in love with mechanical engineering, from soldering and wiring the robot I became fascinated with electrical engineering, and my exposure to coding piqued my interest in computer science.
